Thank you for participating in the Survivorship Trail Challenge! The race results are posted here. Photos from Justin Torner Photography can be found here.

We want people of all abilities, runners and walkers, to participate on the trails of Hickory Hill Park. Run or walk in solidarity with our survivors, or in memory of someone you have lost.

Ask any cancer survivor and you’ll find that 5 years in remission is a significant milestone. That especially holds true for the 80% of children diagnosed with cancer and have reached “5 years and clear” after treatment (source). That’s an amazing number, but the journey doesn’t end with remission. Cancer survivors need continuing care and the Red Shamrock Foundation wants to be a part of it. This race helps bring awareness to cancer survivorship and encourages healthy living through activity and being in the outdoors. (What a great way to stay true to your New Year’s resolutions of getting and staying in shape this year!)

RACE STARTS AT 9:00AM
RACE DAY REGISTRATION/ PACKET PICK-UP:
7:30AM – 8:45AM

This is NOT your ordinary road race. The race is approximately 6K of hilly trail miles through Hickory Hill Park. Start and finish will be on the Regina track. This is a very challenging and scenic cross country course. Expect steep hills, rocks, overhanging trees, creeks, mud, stumps, and tall grass!
The Survivorship Challenge is also part of the No Coast Trail Series, a group of 9 trail races in Central and Eastern Iowa that was organized to promote trail running in Iowa. In fact, we are the very 1st race on the series calendar. For more information on the series go to nocoasttrailseries.com/
