Survivorship Scholarship

Red Shamrock Foundation (RSF) is awarding a $1,000 scholarship to a pediatric cancer survivor in the state of Iowa.

Application Deadline: June 30, 2024

Application Qualifications:  

  • Must be a pediatric cancer survivor who currently has cancer or has completed their treatment protocol. A pediatric cancer survivor is defined as someone who was diagnosed with cancer prior to their 21st birthday.
  • Been treated in the state of Iowa
  • Graduating senior or has graduated in the State of Iowa
  • Enrolling in an Iowa college in 2024

Applications must include the following: 

  • 500 word essay (or less) describing how cancer has affected your life. What does survivorship mean to you?  What would you tell someone who just found out they have cancer?

The winner will be selected by the Red Shamrock Foundation Board members.

The winner will be notified by phone on or around July 5, 2024, with the results posted on the RSF website by July 8, 2024.  No phone inquiries will be accepted.

Applicants may re-apply in consecutive years.  Recipients are not excluded from future RSF scholarship opportunities.

School Re-Entry Program

We are very excited and proud to announce that our School Re-entry Program is being piloted at the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital! This program, developed through the Red Shamrock Foundation, is used to ease the transition of a child diagnosed with cancer back into their school. It guides educators, students and parents on what to expect when having a cancer patient in school, and provides materials, books and activities to help everyone understand what the patient is going through and how to help. We are pleased to be able to provide this program free of charge to all pediatric cancer patients and their families, thanks to your generous support!
